Mama’s Rolling Stone

Her Daddy said when she was a baby
That child would not sit still
As soon as she was tall enough
Little eyes peaking over the window sill
And when she learned to ride a bike
She took off down the road
Her Mom and Dad just stood and said
“Look at that girl go!”

She was born with a gypsy soul
Restless wheels need to roll
There’s always something just a little further down the road
Yeah she’s Daddy’s Little Angel
And she’s Mama’s Rolling Stone

When she turned 17
She got an old six string
It didn’t take her no time at all
Before she made that guitar sing
Singing “Free Falling” over and over again
It was not a matter of if  but when

She was born with a gypsy soul
Restless wheels need to roll
There’s always something just a little further down the road
Yeah she’s Daddy’s Little Angel
And she’s Mama’s Rolling Stone

Yeah she’s running like the water
Rushing by like some mountain stream
And just when you think you’ve caught her
She slips away like a dream

She was born with a gypsy soul
Restless wheels need to roll
There’s always something just a little further down the road
Now her hometown’s in the rearview mirror
Her Mom and Dad crying “Our baby’s leaving” tears
But she finds comfort when she’s out there on her own
Yeah she’s Daddy’s Little Angel
And she’s Mama’s Rolling Stone

She’ll always be Daddy’s Little Angel
And she’s Mama’s Rolling Stone
