Red and White Blues

I was rolling west on 10
I’d not been home since God knows when
When I license plate, well, it did catch my eye

It said “Wild Rose Country”
It brought me back home and suddenly
I just needed to be back ‘neath that Prairie sky

Back to where our winters are a little longer
And our beer’s a whole lot stronger
And them Prairie girls, they’ve been known to break a heart or two

Well I’m trying to get home
And I’m tired of the telephone
I’m a Northern man down in Dixieland
With the red and white blues

Aura Borealis,
I can’t see you from south of Dallas
But a Fort Worth glow is as close as I can get

But I’m making my way north
And of that you can be sure
I said “Hey pretty baby, I don’t need no compass set

To get back to where our winters are a little longer
And our beer’s a whole lot stronger
And them Prairie girls, they’ve been known to break a heart or two

Well I’m trying to get home
And I’m tired of the telephone
I’m a Northern man down in Dixieland
With the red and white blues

It doesn’t matter where you’re from
When you left or how come
There’s something about the feel of going home

Familiar places, familiar streets
Familiar faces, they smile at me
I don’t need no map to know I’m home

Back to where our winters are a little longer
And our beer’s a whole lot stronger
And them Prairie girls, they’ve been known to break a heart or two

Well I’m trying to get home
And I’m tired of the telephone
I’m a Northern man down in Dixieland
With the red and white blues

I’m a Northern man doing the best I can
With the red and white blues
