Kept On Dancing

Written in April through August of 1992 in Edmonton and Bonnyville, Alberta

I spend my days being lazy
That’s if you’re outside looking in
Don’t come around here to try and save me
Because you’d never know where to begin

Who ever said “Love was just a game”
Man, they sure weren’t too far off the mark
It starts between a flicker and a flame
But it’s still just a shot in the dark

I see your face froze in confusion
Man, that look ain’t nothing new to me
You walk around in an illusion
Seeing only what you wanna see

Yeah, because you, you knew all the answers
And I believed them to be true
The music died and I kept on dancing
Because, baby it was you

It was you

Someone said “The world is just a stage
And everybody’s got to play their part.”
But man my script was missing a page
But I believed I could play it all by heart

Because me, I knew all the answers
And I believed them to be true
The music died and I kept on dancing
Because, baby it was you

Now I see my reflection in the window
A few more lines, but, hey, that’s me
I lose my direction when the wind blows
But I still know where I’ve gotta be
I still know where I’ve gotta be
I still know where I’m gonna be

But, you, you knew all the answers
And I believed them to be true
The music died and I kept on dancing
Because, baby it was you
Baby, it was you.
